Your first consultation is all about us getting to know each other, and for us to find out a bit more about your personal situation and provide you with some initial advice.
When you first book in, we will ask you several general questions about the parties, the length of the relationship and whether there are any children involved. We will also ask you to give us a brief overview of what your matter entails.
During the Consultation
During the consultation I will get a better understanding of your matter, and give you some initial advice on your rights, entitlements and obligations. We will answer your questions, discuss your options and agree on a strategy on how to approach your matter.
Your initial consultation will leave you with an information overload. So come prepared with your questions, and if you like, bring a support person with you. Remember that unless a matter is urgent, you don’t have to make decisions on the spot or even overnight. Take the time to digest what we talk about, feel free to ask more questions if you have any, and make your decision as to how you would like to proceed when you are ready.
Following the consultation we will provide you with our written cost estimate for the steps we discuss in your appointment. You will have the opportunity to review these documents and speak to us if you have any questions. If you wish to proceed, you will then sign and return those documents which will engage us to act on your behalf.
Initial consultations will go for approximately one hour and are charged at a discounted rate of $350. If at the end of the hour you want to continue our appointment, that is totally fine, but you will be charged our regular hourly rate. Any consultation fees are payable on the day, so please come prepared. All of this information will be discussed with you when you first make a booking or call with an enquiry, and will be confirmed in our initial email to you prior to your appointment.
