Timothy Balaam
Timothy holds a Bachelor of Laws (Honours) from the Queensland Institute of Technology.
Timothy was admitted as a solicitor to the Supreme Court of Queensland in 1988. He is also admitted to the High Court of Australia, the Supreme Court of Northern Territory and the Supreme Courts of England and Wales.
Timothy’s experience includes working for a large national firm and for Herbert Smith, a “top ten” London firm, as well as a specialist insurance practice in Brisbane.
For almost 20 years, Timothy has practised predominantly in defendant personal injury claims, including workers’ compensation, CTP and public and product liability claims. In more recent years, his practice has focused on workers’ compensation common law claims and statutory claims.
Timothy provides a range of legal services to insurers, self insurers and employers including:
- Common law claims management and advice;
- Statutory claims advice;
- Strategic advice on scheme sensitive issues;
- Advice on workplace health and safety initiatives and risk management.
Timothy is highly regarded for his expertise in personal injuries litigation. He is a past member of the Queensland Law Society Accident Compensation Committee, having served on that Committee between 1998 and 2005.
