Jim Tealby

Jim Tealby was admitted as a solicitor of the Supreme Court of Queensland in 1997.  He is also an admitted practitioner of the High Court of Australia.  He holds a Bachelor of Laws, Bachelor of Business (Communication) and a Master of Laws.

Since 1998 Jim has acted almost exclusively for insurance clients in a variety of matters relating to personal injuries claims including CTP, public liability and worker’s compensation claims.  Jim’s experience includes management of dependency and catastrophic claims.  Jim has had significant experience in dealing with complex procedural issues within statutory claims, and has had a number of unfavourable interlocutory judgements successfully overturned in the Court of Appeal.

In more recent times Jim has been involved in defending a Supreme Court action to trial on behalf of an employer in a co-worker assault case, conducting a number of Industrial Magistrate Court appeals against Q-Comp Review Decisions and appealing a number of workplace health & safety prosecutions on behalf of employers.

Jim is acutely aware of the need for active file management, and to keep aware of recent judgements and current trends in the industry.  He has extensive experience dealing with plaintiff law firms and counsel in South East Queensland and is well familiar with the behaviour likely to be encountered by both.
