Clint Kanther

Senior Associate

Clients often come to us with legal matters that have become quite complicated and have protracted litigation histories. They are usually very frustrated, and have almost given up hope on achieving a resolution. These are the kinds of matters that I love working on, and that are often referred to me to resolve. I thrive on assisting clients to determine the result they are looking for and then finding the most direct approach of achieving that goal.

I work with a range of clients from large insurers through to small business operators to assist them on a broad range of commercial, personal injury and insurance matters. I am a litigation lawyer, but I always focus on working with my client to get the outcome that is best for them, whether that’s negotiating a settlement or taking a matter through to litigation.

Having worked for several years in North Queensland, I have particular experience in the mining, energy and resource sectors.

My clients benefit from my experience as a Logistics Officer in the Australian Army. In this role, I was responsible for advising senior commanders on a range of critical matters. Learning this skill early in my career provided me with a pragmatic and direct approach to problem solving, which I bring to all my cases.  My clients also tell me that they appreciate my ability to digest large amounts of information and turn it into concise, results driven advice.

Since joining BTLawyers in 2015, I have had several successes at trial, including:

  • Polichornis v Teys [2016] QDC 225 – Successful defence of a Psychiatric Claim arising out of a sexual assault by a co-worker.
  • Beaven v Wagner Industrial Services Pty Ltd [2016] QDC 299
  • McGrory v Medina Property Pty Ltd – Successful Quantum outcome resulting in only a trivial award for damages for the Plaintiff
