Chris Murphy
Chris holds a Bachelor of Arts, Bachelor of Laws and is a Queensland Law Society Accredited Specialist in personal injuries. He has almost 10 years experience practicing exclusively in insurance litigation.
Chris has extensive experience in all areas of insurance and personal injuries litigation including Public Liability claims (both personal injury and property damage), WorkCover (statutory and common law), Professional Indemnity, Policy Response Issues, Workplace Health and Safety Prosecutions and Construction and Engineering (litigation only).
Chris has experience in large claims including acting for an overseas insurer in defence of an arson claim with quantum alleged in excess of $10M, for an accountant in defence of a professional indemnity claim made by a major overseas bank with quantum of in excess of $2M and numerous personal injuries matters with quantum of in excess of $1M. Chris has also acted in several matters which have been of major strategic importance to the personal injury schemes in Queensland including Newberry v Suncorp and Cousins v Mt Isa Mines. Currently, Chris acts for insurers and large corporate entities in defence of public liability claims for personal injuries.
Chris’ early career was spent acting for Plaintiffs and managing a regional office of a national personal injury firm. His experience in acting for plaintiffs gives him a sound understanding of the commercial reality of Plaintiff law firms and enables him to identify assertive resolution strategies which pay dividends for his clients.
Chris is a dedicated litigator, who identifies with his clients and knows what he is doing. He is able to use is experience, knowledge and enthusiasm to deliver consistently superior results for his clients.
